Methodology

These are the rankings that I publish on the first monday of each month. This table shows the rankings for October 2022. The ranking was simulated for October 3rd, 2022 and takes into account matches since September 13th, 2020. The values in gray show the comparison to the previous month's ranking, that were simulated for September 5th, 2022.
To be eligible for the rankings, we demand that within the last 750 days, a player played at least ten matches that ended orderly. Moreover we demand that the most recent of these matches was within the last year. In the doubles disciplines, the ranking is for each player seperately. Thus if players play with different partners, they will differ in their ranks and strengths. If however two players only competed as a pair, they will be given the same rank and strength.
The table gives the following data:
  • The current rank,
  • The difference to previous month's rank, shown as an arrow and as the difference in ranks, or 'new' if the player was not in the previous rankings,
  • The player's name next to the flag of his or her country,
  • The current strength as estimated by the simulation,
  • The difference to previous month's strength, shown as an arrow and as the difference in strength,
  • The number of matches used for estimating the strength of this player. Smaller in gray also the number of matches used for the previous ranking is shown
  • (only on wide screens) The number of matches since the last monthly ranking,
  • (only on wide screens) The date of the player's last match that was included in the estimation of the strength.

For more information how these rankings are generated, see the page about the Simulation.
